The lost decade

We are arrived to 2020 without any of environment and climate goals achieved

Today we passed to new decade. The last days newspapers and magazines make reports and extrapolations about how our world would look in the next 30 years. Some are optimistic, other give more alerts about the future; but too much seem that lives in other planet. If we see the last 30 years, we see a humanity worried about how it can grow but forgetting that planet is finite. Planet haven’t infinite land to build infrastructures, haven’t infinite air to store our polluted gases and infinite space to hide our trash. When media publish about what we must do in the next 30 years, but they forget what we hadn’t been able to do in last 30 years.

When I began to write this blog, many people told me that we must write in positive. Well, I’m not the most joyful of person of this planet. It’s too much hard to talk in positive about future in the current context. I understand that newspaper must talk in positive when they talk of future. But current news (Australia buns, sur of Africa is drying…) or in all the year (rain forest burning in around the world, heat waves, hurricanes and typhons in winter…) shows a dark landscape about the planet. This year is again the hotter of history, and this record is reached every year since 2014.

This ten last years are loosed in environment issues. Yes, people seem that have understood the environmental sense; but when you talk about the limiting the car use, the reduction of tourism o easily the cut of energy waste, these people go out to burn the streets. For example, France where people celebrated the Paris agreements (COP21), the same people dressed in yellow vests protested in front the fists trays to apply these agreements in France (Gilets Jaunes). People wants environment politics also want fight front climate change; but at the same time don’t want to lose their comforts and to travel in any moments with low cost. The politic cost of implement climate change politics was too much high for politics; so these last ten years nobody made anything.

The COP25 was a mess. The next year the countries must show the implementation of deal. However some countries was gone (between them one of the boosters), other are doing the contrary that promised and the rest are doing nothing. Countries talk and talk; good words is the only result of these summit.

The saddest, from my point of view, is that I can understand why nobody made anything. How many people live thanks to cars; how many people live thanks travel, trade and tourism; and how many people live because their clients are the people are working in these jobs. Yes, to take the right decision means to stop the current economy. Who dares to make this decision?

Earth remember its good moments

Decision is hard and urgent. Which each loosed day the actions to be taken are increasingly drastic, and probability useless. The rich people think that their money could save them of disaster, or they want to be the richest of cemetery. But the main of people When would they see that nobody come to save us? When would they understand that the real conspiration against them are their actions? And today we don’t bet the future of our son or grandson however our close future is in threat.
