A UN report shows that the rate of accumulation of CO 2 and other gases is increasing year after year It will soon be 17 years from the signing of the Kyoto Protocol that drove reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. Part of the protocol referred to CFC s already being eradicated because of another also deleterious effect on the atmosphere was fulfilled: the destruction of the ozone layer; but the most important reducing CO 2 emissions from the combustion of hydrocarbon energy to achieve, not only it hasn’t been met but that emissions have increased. A report commissioned by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that in the last 30 years CO 2 is still accumulating in the atmosphere, it also shows an acceleration almost double the rate of accumulation was in the 80s . At last we arrived at 400 ppm of CO 2 in the atmosphere .  Two decades of conferences, commitments and challenges don’t stop the growth of CO 2 atmospheric concentration. But we aren’t listening celestial trumpets or seeing angels armed with fire-swords down from heaven. It’s true, the predicted Apocalypse doesn’t start yet, but the barrier of two times the concentration of CO 2 of pre-industrial age is significant not to be a round number bur it had never exceeded in the last 600,000 years . However importance is that in first we are entering in ‘ terra incognita ’ with respect to fossil records, and second ours mathematic climatic models are out too of confidence interval; and now anything unforeseen or expected can happen. Doha hasn’t been a success. Connie Hedegaard has a contrary opinion on this issue, as she expose in her paper Why the Doha climate conference was a success (the Guardian 12/14/12), and her voice is much more authoritative that mine. But in my humble opinion, Doha and the before last conferences of climate, have not covered the minimum and the expectations.   She talks about the success in terms of a steep more on the path to achieve the goal. She shows a checklist of objectives and achievements; she laments the slow progress and she hopes that it can fulfill the 2015 agenda. I believe that conference has made advances but they are sufficient. Humans work bat the concept “Time”, this defect produces most of the errors that humanity makes and we have done historically.
