Apocalypses

Current year (2012) must be last year. Mayas predicted the end of the time at December 21th but the day passthrough and it didn’t pass anything. In fact humanity has many challenges which it’s playing its future, however there was the same challenges in the day 22th to 20th and in the same severity.

 

Apocalypse is the Christian Book that relates the end of the world. This Book isn’t the only relate that talks about of this theme. Exist a great number of prophecies, cosmologies or natural signs that predict the finish of the time.  Some of these are allegoric histories without temporal references except they always happen in a far future. Others suggest a kind of terms without explicit date which are allowing a legion of fortunetellers, wizards, gurus and charlatans to mark dates. In Doomsdays (The Economist Dec/12) can see some dates of possible end of World, I would observe that all rebased dates was failing.
People have a great fascination for the destruction and catastrophes. Every year cinematographic industry shows a few new films about this thematic. But films are fiction whereas the prophets of Armageddon are whitening books, appearing in TV and modifying their reasoning according to current events. The materialist present life empties ours owns and we research something to full it. More people turn their eyes to religion, others only don’t think about it. Ancient Greeks had asked of where we came from, why I do here and who I am; but today these questions continue without answer. People don’t agree to have a life like a animals or plants which are their meal, they seems them as something more.
It’s really a sign of transcendence when the end of Time had been written a long time before. The news could seem sad, but in the same time confirms that our life has got propose, even if it is disappearing dramatically. We can also think of many people gray that the catastrophe even would be an opportunity: in the last moments all that happened before leaves to have importance and the cards are returned to distribute. But majority people see the news with curiosity and forget it short time after.
There is no message without messenger. The prophet is the key figure in this drama. She or he is a person who self-assigned mission to show the world the truth hidden behind something apparently harmless. As a discoverer of conspiracies she/he is able to find a number of correlations between seemingly unrelated things, after she/he see the light and she/he solved to bring the news to the world.
For general ruler they tend to be people with little knowledge of the field of which opinion. This fact causes that may dared crazy theories these do not pass any analysis but takes shape in their mind. as I said in “Els Cretins que ens governen (Catalan realize)” when most ignorant is person, more knew believed them. Thus people without basic knowledge about physics, biology, geology and history; they mix the quantic physics with Genghis Khan, Pyramids or Dinosaurs. Doesn’t matter because they have found the Truth, and who have got the Truth doesn’t change it for nothing.
The illuminated people are dangerous, but less dangerous than charlatans. Charlatans take the prophecies as a business. In a cynical try to profit from the poor credulous people who see in their words a glimmer of light to own sordid existence. Fear relaxes the sphincter and the pockets, but faith eliminates the will and purchases souls. Legions of followers buy books, and they can make donations to the collective suicide ephemeral hope of being saved. Often shown on TV news about suicide and scams made by these prophets of other people’s goods, and we can lament the consequences but we could do something.
Sometimes we get a recording of some of these illuminated and we take it as a joke. They don’t predict the future, they only want to win money. May seem harmless but as speculators sweep all that are ahead, they will do everything possible to take advantage of the poor people. Poor people really need help and the only friend hand that they find is the trap of these predators.
Taking advantage of freedom of speech and religion, false prophets continue spreading their lies through the world without anyone doing anything about it. I don’t demand to imposed any kind of censorship but we must identified and shown these fraudsters before it will be more latter to credulous people. The best prevention is to remove people credulous, and this gets with more educated.
